1. Nicholas: Magnificent sight, isn't it?
   • Who are you?
2. Nicholas: Me? I'm a scholar. Or more specifically...a man utterly fascinated by gnolls. A gnoll expert, if you will.
3. Nicholas: The leader of the gnolls here is one called "Sak the Hunger Fiend." Recently, he fought the pack on the eastern side over territory.
4. Nicholas: And he lost the struggle. Poor creature... (chuckle)
   • What's a scholar like you doing here?
5. Nicholas: I'm keeping an eye on the cave where he's holed up. I just can't stop wondering what he's doing there...
6. Nicholas: You've come at just the right... Wait.
   • What is it?
7. Nicholas: Sak may have been defeated, but he once ruled the gnolls around here. A cornered beast is often the most dangerous.
8. Nicholas: I don't think you could take this on yet... It's too risky.
9. Nicholas: Come back once you've had a little more training.

18. Nicholas: Could you do me a favor?
    • What is it?
19. Nicholas: Investigate his condition for me, will you? I have a feeling there's something extraordinary there.
    • Alright.
20. Nicholas: You're back! How was he doing?
    • He was out of his mind. He swallowed something dangerous to avenge his loss.
21. Nicholas: Something dangerous?

23. Nicholas: He had something like this inside his body? He must have craved power beyond reason...
24. Nicholas: Would you consider entrusting the fragment to me?
25. Nicholas: It could become a major breakthrough in gnoll ecology research.
    • Is it that important?
26. Nicholas: Of course it is!
27. Nicholas: Listen. The gnoll that absorbed the Black Iron's power went berserk. Between the intense stimulation and being trapped in that confined space...there's no telling what kind of biological response it triggered.
28. Nicholas: Its body may have undergone some kind of mutation! When are we ever going to find another case like this?
