In ArcheAge Chronicles you socket two kinds of stones into your gear: Lunastones and Lunagems. Our database lists 191 of them – 176 Lunastones and 15 Lunagems. Lunastones carry a randomly rolled stat such as Max HP or Fire ATK, while Lunagems fit the shaped sockets found on some weapons. This guide covers which stone goes where, how random stats work and which bosses drop the good stones in Early Access.
Lunastones vs. Lunagems
A Lunastone always belongs to one type of gear: weapon, armor or accessory. Each stone page shows it under “Socket”. A Lunastone of Might therefore only fits weapons, a Lunastone of Defiance only armor and a Shining Life Lunastone only accessories.
Lunagems go by the shape of the socket instead: circle, tetragon or triangle. Item pages list them under “Matching Lunagems”. So far only weapons have such a socket in our database – 26 of them, all triangular, for example Ruin Keeper’s Battle Axe, Pillager’s Dagger and Gyldenlord’s Trial. We have no gear with circular or tetragon sockets yet, and our pages show no stats of their own for Lunagems.
How many Lunastones are there?
Here is how the 176 Lunastones split by rarity and socket. New in Early Access are the four Shining Lunastones for accessories, which add Uncommon stones with damage against normal and elite monsters as well as Max HP and Max SP for the accessory socket.
| Rarity | Weapon | Armor | Accessory | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 2 | 2 | – | 4 |
| Uncommon | 14 | 14 | 12 | 40 |
| Rare | 34 | 32 | 8 | 74 |
| Epic | 20 | 12 | 9 | 41 |
| Legendary | 5 | 12 | – | 17 |
| Total | 75 | 72 | 29 | 176 |
The 15 Lunagems are simpler: five tiers, each with a circular, a square and a triangular stone.
| Lunagem | Rarity | Item level |
|---|---|---|
| Faint Circular, Square, Triangular | Common | 1 |
| Vivid Circular, Square, Triangular | Uncommon | 10 |
| Lucid Circular, Square, Triangular | Rare | 20 |
| Radiant Circular, Square, Triangular | Epic | 30 |
| Luminous Circular, Square, Triangular | Legendary | 40 |
How random stats work
According to the game, a Lunastone’s values are rolled when you acquire it. Every stone page lists all stats it can roll under “Possible random stats”, each with its range, plus the “Number of random stats”. Almost every Lunastone carries exactly one stat. The range tells you how much luck is involved:
- Lunastone of Might (Common): Physical ATK 1–2
- Devious Wind (Rare): Wind ATK 4–10
- Golden Tree Lunastone I (Legendary): Magic PEN 1–34
Some stones have several possible stats but still keep only one. The Wavewyrm Flame Necklace Lunastone rolls Fire DEF or Tidal DEF at 17–99, the Diamond Hereafter Token (formerly Diamond Hereafter Dice) Physical DEF or Magic DEF at 2–13. The one exception is the Hereafter Flame Lunastone: it gets 1–2 stats out of Max HP 200, Fire ATK 45, Fire ATK 30 and Fire DEF 20 – fixed numbers rather than ranges.
The stats pages work the other way round and show which stones provide a stat. Max HP, for instance, comes from six Lunastones, including Ruins Restoration, Constellation of Vitality and the new Shining Life Lunastone (Max HP 7–13).
Tip: With wide ranges like 1–34, don’t lock a poorly rolled stone into your build right away. A second copy can be worth a lot more.
Pre-socketed Lunastones
150 pieces of gear already carry a Lunastone when you get them: 84 armor pieces, 60 weapons and 6 accessories. Item pages show it under “Pre-socketed Lunastone”, stone pages under “Pre-socketed in”. Most of it is crafted gear, and the stone’s description then reads “bound to … during crafting”. Three examples:
- Inheritor’s Cutlass (Smithing) with Inheritor’s Cutlass Lunastone: Physical PEN 2–9
- Golden Tree Warden’s Hood (Tailoring) with Golden Tree Lunastone I: Magic PEN 1–34
- Wavewyrm Flame Necklace with Fire DEF or Tidal DEF 17–99
One stone can sit in several items: Ancient Soldier Lunastone I (Magic ATK 2–3) comes in five helmets, including the Ancient Soldier’s Helmet. In such series the Roman numerals stand for the individual set pieces – for Golden Tree, I is the hood, II the light armor, III the gloves and IV the boots.
Where to get Lunastones
In Early Access normal enemies hardly drop Lunastones any more – if they do, mostly at just 0.375 %. Bosses are the reliable source: for 33 Lunastones our pages list enemies, chests or quests as a source, and these have the best odds:
| Lunastone | Socket | Stat (example) | Best source | Chance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lunastone of Defiance | Armor | Magic DEF 1–2 | Flesheater King (level 22, Ferrous Ravine) | 100 % |
| Lunastone of Might, Mana, Warding, Defiance | Weapon, armor | Physical ATK 1–2 | Great Wild Bear (5, Diamond Shores), Bloodsoaked Sloth (20, Gloam Ruins), Helkum, King of Hinnon (30, Throne of Hinnon) | 25 % each |
| Lunastone of Conquest, Valor, Vitality, Focus | Weapon, armor | Damage to Normal Monsters ↑ 1–5 | Vanguard of Destruction (27, Diamond Shores) | 25 % each |
| the same four plus Shining Beast, Foe, Life, Meditation | Weapon, armor, accessory | Max HP 7–13 (Shining Life) | Giant Alligator Turtle (6), Rift Rancor (19), Prince of the Ruins (26), Princess in the Forest (30), Pathwarden Jul (40) | 12.5 % each |
| Reedwind Wind | Armor | Wind DEF 10–30 | Thunderborn Mesabiel (51, Starry Veil) | 100 % |
| Reedwind Wind, Reedwind Wave | Armor | Tidal DEF 10–30 (Wave) | Gakitos the Devourer (77, Temple of Haje) | 50 % each |
| 18 Rare Lunastones (Devious, Reedwind, Constellation, Ruins, Gon’s Sandy) | Weapon, armor | Max HP 11–21 (Ruins Restoration) | eight major bosses, see below | 5.56 % each, one guaranteed |
| Diamond, Gylden, Astron Hereafter Token | Accessory | Physical DEF or Magic DEF 2–13 (Diamond) | the Hereafter bosses of each region, for example Hereafter Gartez | 100 % |
The 18 Rare Lunastones – among them Devious Flame (Fire ATK 5–12), Devious Steel (Steel ATK 7–18), Gon’s Sandy Onslaught (Physical Amplification 5–10), Gon’s Sandy Mana (Magic Amplification 5–10) and Constellation of Vitality (Max HP 11–21) – drop from six major bosses: Illidas of the Sandstorm (60, Sandveil Ruins), Eternal Nightmare Celtak (60) and Enduring Nightmare Celtak (90, both in Nakisian Temple), Shemitt (77, Bleak Lumberyard), Fetid Prince (89, Sanguine Den) and Karshid, Tyrant of the Ruins (100, Gylden Throne). On top of that come the dungeon bosses Hunger Fiend (Gon’s Sandy Hollow) and Ashen King (Reedwind Cave). For each of them the 18 stones have 5.56 % apiece, 100 % in total – so one stone is guaranteed, and chance decides which.
You will find the Diamond Shores field bosses with location and respawn time in our guide to the field bosses of Diamond Shores. The Rare stones can also be found in Treasure Chests according to their pages, and Ruins Restoration is also a reward from the main quest Mischief Managed in the Gylden Ruins. Our pages don’t list a source for Lunagems yet.
Polishing Lunastones
Lunastones can be polished just like gear. Weapon stones and most accessory stones have 15 levels, armor stones 10. The Shining Lunastones and the Hereafter Tokens cannot be polished. You need Tempering Stones of the matching type in three qualities – Faint Weapon Tempering Stone first, then Vivid and Brilliant – plus gold. For weapon stones the success chance drops in the first two blocks of five from 100 to 60, 40, 30 and 20 %, in the last block down to 10 %, and resets to 100 % with each new quality. According to the table, no stone can ever break. Costs depend on the stone’s rarity: the +15 step costs 14,500 gold on a Lunastone of Might and 1,093,000 gold plus 40 Brilliant Weapon Tempering Stones on the Hereafter Flame Lunastone. All the tables are in our polishing guide.
Planning stones in the build planner
In the build planner, open the “Gear & stats” tab and pick an item for each of the nine slots. Below it you get a “Lunastone” selection with every matching stone. The pre-socketed one is marked “(pre-socketed)” and is filled in as soon as you choose the item. A “Lunagem” selection only appears if the item has a socket. The summary doesn’t guess rolls – it shows random stats as a range.
Tip: Plan your weapon first: with 75 Lunastones it has the widest choice, and so far only weapons have a Lunagem socket. Values and sources may still change over the course of Early Access.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Lunastone and a Lunagem?
A Lunastone belongs to a gear type (weapon, armor or accessory) and carries a rolled stat. A Lunagem fits a shaped socket – circle, tetragon or triangle. So far 26 weapons in our database have a triangular socket.
How many random stats does a Lunastone have?
Almost always exactly one, even when several stats are possible. Only the Hereafter Flame Lunastone can roll 1–2 stats.
Where can I get Lunastones reliably?
Flesheater King drops Lunastone of Defiance and Thunderborn Mesabiel in Starry Veil drops Reedwind Wind, both at 100 %, and the Hereafter bosses drop their Hereafter Token. Six major bosses and two dungeon bosses always drop one of the 18 Rare Lunastones, though which one is random. Many more stones come pre-socketed in crafted gear.
Do normal enemies still drop Lunastones?
Hardly. Since Early Access only a few enemy types still have Lunastones in their loot, mostly at 0.375 %. Field bosses and dungeon bosses are the better source.
Can a Lunastone break while polishing?
No. According to the polishing table the break chance is 0 % at every level. The success chance does drop as low as 10 % on the higher levels, though.
